Taking time for yourself is an important part of health and wellness. We might wish for a day at the spa but a simple 20 minutes of just not doing anything is just as gratifying and is excellent for productivity, especially if you’re at the office (or in between classes). I know this because I tired it recently.
I was so exhausted and rightly I needed a day to recover but I opted for 20 minutes instead. What I did? I simply unplugged from emails and social media, set my timer for 20 minutes and just placed my head on my desk (if you have your own office, you can lie on the door if you wish and have carpet). Not necessarily to sleep, although you can but to relax, unwind, and rejuvenate. That time allowed me to renew and replenish my energy. It also made me more alert, focused and productive.
We all lead busy lives and sometimes a simple 5 to 20 minutes is hard to find but mentally and physically we need that time to rejuvenate. We need to find time for ourselves. Putting yourself on your priority list is a must, and all it takes is 20 minutes. TRY IT!
